next project: spray painted lamp bases

I'm itching for a quick-fix DIY and think I know just the idea. We have two lamps in our bedroom, one on either side of the bed and they're *almost the same*, but not. One base is dark wood and the other is metal. Same shape, same shade, same size. I'd love them to look more cohesive though, so I'm going to spray paint the bases.

I want a bold colour since our bedding is white and grey and the whole room is pretty blaaaah. Soon we'll put up more pictures and art on the walls, I hope, but for now the lamps need to be a big player in colour and fun in the room. The question is, what colour? (sources here)

Also, I'm dreaming of a new bed frame (our current one is ridiculously high and I hate that it has a foot board since I'm so tall and tend to move down the bed in my sleep) some day, but that's probably not until we move to a new condo (in 2-4 years) and have a van to transport said bed frame from the USA since I have only found affordable ones there. So really, we're getting ahead of ourselves, but thanks to Pinterest, I can organize my dreams :) The lamps I can do now, and so that's one step in the right direction!

  1. So simple. I often pass up dated lamps because I hate the bronze or ceramic paint. It's as simple as a can of spray paint.
