Morrice Family Year Book

what an AMAZING idea.

Ashley, from Under The Sycamore, a favourite blog of mine, posted recently about a year book she makes each year. For her kids. For her. To remember. To marvel at.

And they're beautiful. Not just Ashey's, although that woman is creativity in it's purest form! She uses My Publisher and I have to say, I think I will too. I'm going to shop around as well, but I'd love to make a 2010 book, and then continue making them every year. The first one may be a little Lily-heavy, but yet, first kids get it the best don't they? Somewhere in Toronto, my sister is smirking ;)

And right now they have a Buy-One-Get-One-Free deal, but I read the fine print and it expires within 30 days of clicking, so don't use it until you're ready... although how long the promotion will be up is unknown... yeesh!
So excited about our yearbook. And the tradition. And the memories. Just like these*:

  2. i've been making birth-one year books for my kids (I figure that's do-able for multiple children unlike scrapbooking or even baby books!) and 2010 was my first year book (although it's about 1/2 done. I got sidetracked with Jude's birth - 1 year book).
family year books are the way to go! especially since barely anyone prints pictures out and puts them in albums anymore.
I use blurb. Love blurb. I've checked out My Publisher and I know their quality is exceptional but I've used Blurb, love it and am used to it so we'll stick with it. :)
But definitely worth any and all effort in the long run. :)

  3. Yes, get it done while you're feeling inspired! I managed to do old-school baby books for my sons' first year, but since then, the thought of going through and organizing their photos and stacks of art projects is overwhelming. There are so many. I would love to get them all organized/displayed in some nice way, but think it will stay on my list for a while ...

  4. Thankfully I just started saving pictures in my "my pictures" folder on the computer this year, so all I have is 2010... the rest are on my lap top. Future years though... who can know!

I think this is the optimal non-baby-book idea. Realistically, I'm no pack rat. I LOVE to fill bags for the Salvation Army, to give away to friends, or toss in the trash, and though I told myself I'd save all of Lily's little keep sakes, I'm bad at that. Pictures I can do, and a yearbook seems even easier than a trillion photo albums :)

I used mypublisher to make a graduation gift for Sarah. It was Grades 9-12 of all her rowing regattas. It is amazing and it was easy to do. The best part is from when I hit 'send' to when it arrived on our doorstep was within 24 hours! Next time you are in Fonthill, remind me to show you. Oh yes, we got 2 books for the price of 1 too!
